2 terrorists, 2023 Pune Terror joined conspiracy, arrested in Mumbai

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two operators of the banned terrorist organization ISIS, who were part of a sleeper module involved in the construction and testing of improvised explosive equipment (IEDs) in Pune, Maharashtra.

The arrest was made in connection with the case of 2023 terrorist conspiracy.

The accused, Abdullah Fizes Sheikh alias Diaperwala and Talha Khan, were stopped by the Immigration Bureau in Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

Both were hiding in Jakarta, Indonesia, and were taken into custody by Nia when they came to India.

According to the NIA, the two were on run for more than two years and wanted the case RC -05/2023/NIA/Mam. Non-Jassus warrants were issued against him by the NIA Special Court in Mumbai, and a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh was declared every Rs 3 lakh for the leading information for his arrest.

The NIA said the case relates to a major conspiracy by ten persons, including both recently arrested, to complete terrorist activities and to war war against the Government of India.

The agency said, “They conspired for terrorist acts aimed at dissolving India’s peace and communal harmony by waging war against the ISIS agenda ahead of the ISIS agenda for establishing Islamic rule in the country through violence and terror,” the agency said.

Abdullah Fayaz Sheikh rented a house in Kondhwa, Pune, which was used as a center to collect IEDs.

The NIA stated that during 2022 and 2023, the accused not only built IEDs, but also conducted training workshops in bomb making and even a controlled explosion to test one of their equipment.

The investigative agency, which is actively working to abolish the ISIS-Linked Network operated in India, had earlier filed a charge sheet against all ten accused under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Material Act, Arms Act and Indian Penal Code.

In addition to Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh and Talha Khan, The Other Eight Accused Currently in Judicial Custody Include Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Abdul Kadir Pathan, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi, zulfikar ali barodawala, shamil nachan, akif nachan, and shahnawaz alam.

The NIA said that investigation in the case is going on.
