20,000 Andhra students set world records, perform 108 Surya Namskarm

Around 20,000 tribal students performed 108 Surya Namskaram as part of ‘Yoga – Maha Surya Vandanam’.

A Guinness World Record was determined as 20,000 participants, including more than 13,000 girls, performing 108 Surya Namaksars for about two hours.

Conducted as part of the World Health Day celebrations, the event was officially recognized by the manager of the London World Records Union, who presented a certificate to District Collector Dinesh Kumar.

Speaking to ANI, Alice Renod said, “I am a world record union manager, and I was to see the performance here tonight because 20,000 students performed Surya Salute. This is a new world record that has been established tonight. I want to congratulate them.”

Tribal Welfare Minister Gamdi Sandhya Rani inaugurated the event, inspiring the crowd by actively participating in the sun salt.

Participants, mainly students of five mandals in the district, were preparing for this day for the last five months, waking up daily at 4 am to practice yoga.

The collective effort, which included continuous monitoring by health workers to ensure the good of all participants, was appreciated as a major success.

District Collector Dinesh Kumar emphasized the positive impact of yoga sessions keeping in mind the students’ health, learning abilities and significant reforms in overall performance.

He also mentioned that the students who first needed a visit to the hospital had seen a significant decline in medical requirements reflecting the benefits of regular yoga practice.

A prominent organizer and physical education teacher, Patanjali Srinivas, officially started the program by adding a conch, adding a formal touch.

Collector Dinesh Kumar congratulated Patanjali Srinivas, pets, teachers and tribal welfare officers for his important role in making the event a grand success.

Many dignitaries participated in this program, in which Joint Collector Dr. Abhishek Gowda, SP Amit Burdar, Deputy Collector Sauraman Patel, Additional SP Dharaj and RTC President Dononu Dora included, all of whom celebrated the achievement of this milestone incident.

The energetic environment and large -scale voting not only set a world record, but also underlined the importance of physical fitness in improving overall health and welfare.
