Jaipur:
Neeraj Udhwani, a 33 -year -old resident of Jaipur, was among the victims of deadly terrorist attacks in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. His body is expected to reach Jaipur tonight.
Neeraj, who lived in Forest View Residency, Model Town (Malvia Nagar), was on leave in Kashmir with his wife when terrorists set fire to tourists in Basaron Valley, a popular place in Pahgam.
While Neeraj lost his life in the attack, his wife, who was in the hotel at that time, escaped untoward. He informed the family of the tragedy.
Neeraj, who works in UAE, came to India on leave. He recently attended a wedding in Shimla and then traveled to Kashmir with his wife. The couple had been married for two years while tying the knot at Bhanwar Singh Palace in Pushkar.
Neeraj’s uncle, Dinesh Udhwani said that the family is in deep shock. His elder brother, Kishore Udhwani, an Income Tax Inspector, reached Jaipur with his wife four days ago.
Neeraj’s mother, Jyoti Udhwani is being consoled by relatives and neighbors. His father, Pradeep Udhwani died a decade ago.
At least 26 people were killed and more than 17 injured in Tuesday’s attack. People from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha were among the victims of Nepal and UAE. Two local residents were also killed.
This is the most deadly terrorist strike in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama attack on 14 February 2019, killing 40 CRPF personnel. Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the incident.
This is not the first time tourists from Jaipur have been targeted. On June 10, 2024, four people of the city, including a child, were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. On May 18, 2024, a Jaipur couple – Farah Khan (35) and Tabrez Khan (38) – were shot at a resort in the Yaner area of Pahgam.
