Ahmedabad:
A four -month -old girl was killed by a pet rotwiler dog after being freed from the control of her owner in a residential society in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, police said on Tuesday.
He said that the incident took place on Monday night in the Haratizan area of the city.
The girl’s mother aunt took her to the Common Garden of the Housing Society. At that time, a woman resident brought her pet Rotwiler down while talking on the phone, police Inspector Hitesh Baria said.
He said, “Suddenly, the dog became aggressive and attacked the baby and her aunt as it was slipped from the owner’s grip. Both the injured were rushed to the hospital, but the child was eventually succumbed due to his injuries, while her aunt is still hospitalized,” she said.
The inspector said, “We have sent the baby’s body for post -mortem and started an investigation. An FIR will be filed after receiving the post -mortem report.”
CCTV footage shared by the Housing Society shows that when they were sitting near the garden with others, a big rootwiler was shown attacking the baby and his aunt. Before the owner could react and take control, the aggressive dog injured the child and injured his aunt.
The child’s mother’s uncle Raju Chauhan told reporters that the child died due to deep wounds on the neck and skull.
After knowing about the incident, the Vivekanandanagar police of Ahmedabad took the villagers to the spot and started an investigation.
