5 killed in family, 8 injured “fast growing” truck up in Ram car


Ballrampur:

Officials said on Thursday that five members of a family were killed and eight others were seriously injured in a car and a fast truck on a car and a fast truck on Balrampur-Bahraich National Highway.

The incident took place around midnight near Chakwa village.

District Magistrate (DM) Pawan Aggarwal said that the victims were returning to the village of Bhulahia after attending a wedding ceremony in case of an accident.

Aggarwal said on Thursday, “A fast -running truck entered the car near Chakwa village. Five people died on the spot, and eight were seriously injured. They have been admitted to the District Memorial Hospital in Balrampur.”

The deceased has been identified as Adityaraj (12), Shiv Kumar (23), Phool Babu (36), Vijay Gautam (40) and each other, yet not officially nominated. The injured include Sitaram, Vikas Gautam, Vinay Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Gopal, Vikas and Vinod, who are currently undergoing treatment, DM said.

Officials said that all the victims were traveling in the same vehicle and belonged to the same expanded family.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikas Kumar said that the truck driver fled from the spot after the accident, but the vehicle was later recovered.

Kumar said, “Efforts are underway to locate the absconding driver. He will be arrested soon.”

The District Magistrate and SP visited the hospital on Thursday to review the medical system and ensured that the injured are being treated properly.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep grief over the loss of life.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister’s office said, “The Chief Minister has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed the district officials to provide all the necessary treatment to the injured. They have also wished them fast recovery.” The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem, and the police have initiated legal proceedings. Further investigation is going on.
