500 new electric buses in Delhi’s public transport fleet in next 2 months

On Friday, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said on Friday that five hundred new electric buses will be started on the city roads in the next two months.

After a review meeting on the induction of e-bass in the public transport fleet, Mr. Singh said that the government will include 1000 such buses by the end of this year.

Mr. Singh said in a statement, “We are moving fast to change public transport. In the next two months, 500 AD will be on the streets of Delhi, and by the end of the year, 1,000 will follow more-ensure ensuring more, more efficient commuting options for all,” Mr. Singh said in a statement.

“New electric buses should be introduced as soon as possible so that the benefits of clean, efficient dynamics reach the citizens without delay. With the inclusion of these non-pollution electric buses, we are taking a decisive step towards making Delhi the EV capital of India,” said Mr. Singh.

A structured route rationalization scheme is being implemented to effectively integrate electric goddess buses in Delhi’s current public transport network.

Goddess e-buses are working on small routes (about 12 km each), especially in areas where long (12-meter) buses face operating challenges.

“With route rationalization and more awareness, the goddess buses will increase the final-mile connectivity and bring clean, skilled transport to every commuter in Delhi,” she said.

The meeting was attended by senior transport department officials and leading bus concessions.

Representatives of Transport Department officials and leading bus concessions, including PMI Electro Mobility, Switch Mobility, JBM and others, were also present in the meeting.

Shri Singh called bus concessions to accelerate the delivery of electric buses and increase the development of EV charging infrastructure at all major depots to ensure smooth deployment and operation.

Transport Department officials said that civil works in various depots, along with electrification process, are close to completion.

The minister said that the introduction of new electric buses is an important step towards setting up Delhi as the country’s electric vehicle capital. He directed the concerned agencies to expedite the process to provide clean, efficient mobility options to the people of Delhi.
