In a disastrous incident on Saturday morning, six hygiene workers lost their lives and five others retained significant injuries when they crashed a rapid pickup van, while they were cleaning a stretch of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Ibrahim Bas village in Firozpur Jhirka, Nu Heriana, police officers made a trip.
The tragic incident took place around 10 am as the workers were engaged in regular maintenance of the expressway, a high -speed corridor.
According to police, the driver of the van fled from the spot, left the vehicle at the accident site.
The effect of the accident was described as extremely violent.
“Police teams are working to gather the remains and investigate the incident,” Ajab Singh, DSP Firozpur Jhirka informed, saying that six women lost their lives and injured five others, including a man.
The injured workers were rushed to Mandi Khera Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
A senior police officer mentioned that, based on the initial conclusions, five of the workers who died, they belonged to Kheri Kalan village, while one was from Jhimravat village. However, formal identity is still on.
Officers are investigating the leading circumstances for the accident. Station House Officer (SHO) of Ferozepur Jhirka Police Station Aman Singh said, “We are investigating CCTV footage and gathering all possible evidence to determine the exact sequence of incidents. All the angles are being thoroughly investigated.”
Singh also confirmed that a formal case would be registered after the identity process and preliminary investigation is completed.
Preliminary reports suggest that the pickup van is going from Delhi to Alwar at a high speed, out of control before plowing in a group of workers.
The incident has raised serious concerns over safety measures for maintenance employees working on high -speed expressways, highlighting the immediate need for better protective protocols.
