His family said on Wednesday that the veteran Congress leader and Operator in Tamil, Kumari Anant said, who managed to ensure the use of Tamil language and died in addressing Parliament, his family said on Wednesday.
Chief Minister MK Stalin and MDMK leader Vaiko, who was an MP himself, recalled that Shri Anantan played an important role in getting the right to speak in Tamil in Parliament.
Mr. Anantan was 92 years old and died at 12.15 am on Wednesday. A former president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), he is alive by a son and four daughters, including senior BJP leader and former Telangana Governor, Tamilisai Soundarajan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a post on ‘X’: “Thiru Kumari Anantan ji will be remembered for his remarkable service for the society and his remarkable service for his passion for the progress of Tamil Nadu. He made several attempts to popularize Tamil language and culture. In his condolence message, MK Stalin said that the death of Mr. Anantan is a huge loss for the Tamil society and announced a state funeral, a state funeral for the late leader.
Palaniswamy of AIADMK chief Edappadi, Kelvaparunhagai, President of TNCC, Tamil Nadu BJP’s Main’s Annamalai, CPI and CPI (M) State Secretary, R Muttarsan and Phanmugam founder S. Ramdos, DMDK General Secretary Castatha Kastatha Kazgam chief Vijay, mourned the death of Kumari Anant.
K Selvaparunantagai said that Mr. Anantan had covered a total of 5,548 km in his 17 deeds, pressing for various demands and praising Mr. Anantan as a great Gandhian.
The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly expressed condolences to go through Sri Anantan and expressed their condolences to the bereaved Tamilisai Soundarajan and the Congress party. After reading the condolence message, Speaker M Appavu, the members visited the 2-minute silence as a mark of honor of the late leader.
MK Stalin praised Mr. Anantan as a disciple of the Congress icon and Kamaraj of the former Chief Minister, who earned the honor of the people through his hard work and served people as an MP once and four times as an MP.
The Chief Minister said: “The credit for establishing the right to speak in Tamil in Parliament will only go to him.” He recalled the appreciation of late DMK Patrik M Karunanidhi for Anantan in this regard.
In addition, he said that Anantan dedicated his life to Tamil language service and to honor him, the Tamil Nadu government presented him the “Thagisal Tamizer” (eminent Tamilian) Award on him.
“He will be in our hearts,” MK Stalin said and expressed his condolences and sympathy to the family members of Mr. Anantan, including Tamilisai Soundarajan and Congress party workers.
MDMK General Secretary Vaiko praised Mr. Anantan for gaining the right to speak in Tamil in Parliament and also for his struggle to get the Tamil version in applications like Postal Department’s ‘Money Order’ form.
He said that Mr. Anantan fought a fight to ban alcohol throughout his life and saw him as ‘Thiaga Sudar’ (flame of sacrifice), who followed the path of the heavenly Kamaraj.
Born on March 19, 1933 in Astaveshwaram in Kanyakumari district, Mr. Anantan was elected to Parliament from Nagerkoil constituency in 1977 and is known for the Kamaraj Rules (re -establishment of Congress rule in Tamil Nadu) for his ‘Padayatas’ and promotes Gandhian ideals.
‘Kumari’ is a reference to Kanyakumari district. “Iklaiya Selvar,” which reflects intensive knowledge in literature is the famous sobric of Shri Anantan.
Tamilisai Sounderjan praised his father for his impeccable political career, love for the Tamil language and his royal, disciplined life, whose journey began with a small village in Kanyakumari district.
