Ahmedabad:
Police said on Wednesday that a 22 -year -old woman was allegedly arrested for throwing her baby son into an underground water tank.
Karishma Bagel had claimed last Saturday that her three -month -old son Khayal had not met anywhere, said DB Basia, inspector of Meghnanagar police station. Her husband Dilip then filed a police complaint.
After a discovery, the police found the body of the child in a water tank of their house in Ambikanagar area on Monday (April 7).
The police later discovered that it was a mother who threw the baby in a water tank, Basia said. He was arrested on Monday night, he said.
Basia said, “Karishma was emotionally and physically upset. Since she was pregnant, she always complained of some health issues and told her family members that she was upset because her child cried a lot,” Basia said.
The accused made conflicting statements, raising doubts. She claimed that she placed her son in a room and went to the bathroom, and found him missing on returning.
The official said an investigation was started on the suspicion of the child in the underground water tank that someone had thrown it away, as the structure of the tank had eliminated the child from the accident.
