Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mancha Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-Jai) is ready to kick in the national capital on Thursday as Rekha Gupta’s headed government will start providing health cards to the residents after registering under the scheme.
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh said in a conversation with IANS that a total of 2.60 lakh residents in the national capital have been listed as beneficiaries in the first phase, and they will get their Ayushman Health Card in the next 40-42 days.
He said, “About 400-500 people will get Ayushman Bharat card on day 1,” he said, while the previous AAP administration to deny the residents of the city, which was due to them for a long time.
The Health Minister of Delhi said, “The previous government had blocked the Central Health Scheme for its Mopic political interests. The people of Delhi were deprived of the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, but now, they will be entitled to all benefits, because as any other citizen of the country.”
He also told IANS that a seamless system has been laid for the enrollment of the beneficiaries, funds have been released under the scheme and said that adequate steps have been taken to block middlemen from any intervention.
“As soon as a beneficiary registers himself/ himself, his details will be updated on the portal, and they will also receive the message on their mobile phone,” he said.
In particular, the Department of Health and Welfare of Delhi recently signed an MoU with the National Health Authority of the Union’s Health and Family Welfare Ministry (NHA).
With this, the 35th state/ UT became the 35th state/ UT to implement the Delhi AB PM-J Yojana, leaving the only state out of its purview.
After the agreement, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta also announced that the state government would provide an additional top-up of more than 5 lakhs and above 5 lakhs above, as provided by the Center.
The Chief Minister of Delhi said, “About 6.54 lakh families in the city will now be able to get benefits from AB PM-J, will be started from April 10 with card distribution for this scheme.”
