Amritsar:
Sukhbir Singh Badal was again elected president of the Shiromani Akali Dal in the general representative session of Saturday in Amritsar.
Badal’s name was proposed by the party’s executive president Balwinder Singh Bhundar, while the party leader Paramjit Singh Sarna left it.
The session for the new presidential election of SAD was held at Teja Singh Samundari Hall in the Sri Darbar Sahib campus here.
Bathinda’s wife and Bathinda MP Harimrat Kaur Badal, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Daljit Singh Cheema, senior leader Mahesh Indra Singh Grewal and many senior leaders were present.
On November 16, 2024, Badal resigned from the post of party president after Akal Takht was declared ‘mistakes’ (guilty of religious misconduct) for the “mistakes” made by his government from 2007 to 2017.
In January, his resignation was accepted by the party’s functioning committee. Sad, later, operated the new membership drive.
