IT services Major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) delayed the increase in increment, as the American tariff did not clarify the management growth cycle amid global uncertainty.
The TCS usually modify the wages of its employees in April every year. At the end of FY 2025, the employee’s count was 6,07,979 as the company added 625 employees to the fourth quarter. Throughout the financial year, the company hired 42,000 freshers.
The IT chief is now planning to make a pay amendment decision based on the business environment to develop as uncertainty reduces the sector.
The fourth quarter for TCS increased from 13 percent to 13.3 percent in the last quarter.
According to Milind Lakkad, Chief Human Resource Officer at TCS, “We have placed 42,000 trainees on the ship in FY 25 and the fY26 number will be the same or a little more. Regarding the salary hike, we will decide during the year, given the uncertain business environment.”
Lakkad further stated that the company remains strategic while hiring from the campus, the new net additions will depend on the overall business environment and skill requirements.
TCS also wants to hire talent for niche and new technology skills and is planning to scout geographical, even international to talent.
Lakkad also said that the company does not affect the hiring to AI, as more people will be required with AI for new opportunities.
In the December quarter (Q3 FY25), TCS reported a shortage of 5,370 employees in its workforce.
The company’s overall headcuts declined in FY24 – the first such decline since the listed in 2004. In contrast, TCS added 22,600 employees in FY23 and more than 1.03 lakhs in FY22.
The integrated net profit of IT Major for Q4 fell about 2 percent year-on-year (YOY) to Rs 12,293 crore. In the same quarter last year, the company reported a net profit of Rs 12,502 crore.
Revenue from operations, however, increased by 5.3 percent yoy to Rs 64,479 crore for the end of March 2025, above Rs 61,237 crore a year ago.
