A mob filled with suspicion of stealing goats in Assam


Dibrugarh:

Police said that a person was suspected of stealing goats, surrounded by a mob in Dibrugarh, Assam on Monday morning. Another man was seriously injured during the attack.

According to the police, the incident took place at 10:30 am at Hatigar Bokpara Division of Bokul Tea Estate.

Local people allegedly tried to steal goats to two people. A mob attacked two people, police said that the mob also set the two scooters on fire.

One suspect died on the spot, while the other was identified as Jytimoyi Hazarika of Boiragimoth, taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), where he is in critical condition.

The person who died has not been identified yet.

Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Bikram Carrie and Superintendent of Police Rakesh Reddy were on the spot.

Security in the area has intensified, in which additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order. Officials say further investigation is going on.
