Delhi Police asked to downgrade the ‘Y’ category of the extreme safety cover

New Delhi:

Police sources said on Tuesday that the Home Ministry has directed the Delhi Police to provide the Delhi Police to the former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Adsi from ‘Z’ to ‘Y’ category.

An official said the decision came after a review of the perception of the danger of the emergency by the Central Security Agencies, which concluded that there was no fresh or significant danger that continued the continuity of the ‘Z’ category security cover.

A police source said that recently the security unit of Delhi Police had issued a directive after the Home Ministry (MHA) sought guidance on the situation of the security cover of Atishi.

It earlier marked the security status of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, which currently under the ‘Z-Plus’ category, asking that it should be continued.

The official said, “Although the ministry initially advised to make any changes in the security system for both Kejriwal and Antisi, the Delhi Police later directed to take the cover of Atishi to the ‘Y’ category.”

Under the ‘Y’ category security protocol, Atii will now be preserved by a team of about 12 personnel, including two commandos of the Delhi Police. Security downgrade also means removing some privileges, such as a pilot vehicle that was with his convoy when he held the post of Chief Minister.

In March, Delhi Police proposed to withdraw the ‘Y’ category security cover provided to the East-Deputy Chief Minister to Delhi Manish Sisodia, AAP MLA Ajay Dutt, and former Delhi president Ram Newas Goel.

Security is provided or amended to political leaders on the basis of a danger assessment organized by central intelligence and security agencies on MHA’s instructions.

After assuming the role of Chief Minister, Ati was provided with ‘Z’ category security.

After the AAP defeat in the Delhi poll of 5 February, he was elected as the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly after AAP MLAs were elected as the Legislative Party leader.
