Poll panel source on Rahul Gandhi’s Maharashtra election comments

New Delhi:

Controversy over the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi’s comments in Boston, America, snowball snowball about the Election Commission today, poll panel sources called it “absurd”.

Sources said, “After any adverse decision by voters, trying to discredit the Election Commission by saying that this agreement has been reached, completely absurd,” the sources said.

Congress leaders, sources said, “Not only the law but also his party and millions of election workers were shown derogatory.

Mr. Gandhi, who went to America on April 19, said that “It is very clear for us that the Election Commission is compromised, and it is very clear that there is something wrong in the system. I have said this many times”.

Speaking at an event on Sunday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha claimed that more people voted in the Maharashtra assembly elections compared to adults in the state.

“The Election Commission gave us a polling figure for 5.30 pm, and between 5.30 am and 7.30 pm, 65 lakh voters voted. It is physically impossible … It takes about three minutes to vote for a voter, and if you do mathematics, it would mean that there were voters lines till 2 pm, but it did not happen,” Sri Gladi said.
He also said that when videography was sought, the Commission “not only refused, but also changed the law so that we are not allowed to ask for videography now”.

Election Commission sources said that during the assembly elections in Maharashtra, 6,40,87,588 voters, who reached the polling station from 7 am to 6 pm, voted.

On an average, about 58 lakh votes per hour were selected. By going through these average trends, about 116 lakh voters could vote in the last two hours. Therefore, the casting average of 65 lakh votes by voters in two hours is much less than the voting trend per hour, the sources said.

In addition, in each polling booth, polling voted in front of the polling agents appointed by candidates or their political parties. Sources said that Congress candidates or their agents did not confirm the unusual voting before the returning officer and election observers the next day.

Sources in the Commission also said that the electoral rolls in the state were prepared according to the rules as part of the representation of the people. The special summary amendment was duly operated and the final copy of the electoral roll was handed over to all parties, including the Congress.

In Maharashtra, against 9,77,90,752 voters, only 89 appeals were filed and no complaints were made to the Congress or any other party.
