Leaders around the world sent their tributes and condolences after a disgusting terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in dozens of tourists and an intelligence officer. Twenty -six people died and many others were injured when terrorists set fire to tourists in the city Pahalgam.
Several rounds of gunshots were heard in the Besaran Valley when a group of terrorists came out of the forest and fired indiscriminately on the people gathered there – most of whom were tourists. They then disappeared in the forest.
Some reports suggest that on the Pakistan-based terrorist resistance front, which is an offshoot by the banned Lashkar-e-Tabiba, claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.
There were reactions from global leaders, who increased their solidarity and support to India in this sad moment.
United States – Saying the incident “deeply harassing”, US President Donald Trump wrote, “Deep disturbing news from Kashmir. The United States is strong with India against terrorism. We pray for the souls of those people, and for the recovery of the injured.
Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin also condemned the terror attack, saying, “There is no justification for this cruel crime. We hope that its organizers and criminals will have to face a qualified punishment.” A statement from his office further states that “I would like to repeat our commitment to further increase the growing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all my forms and expressions. Please express wishes for the rapid recovery of all the injured with honesty and support for the deceased and with honestly sympathy and support for the deceased.”
United States -American Vice President, JD Vance, who is currently in India with his family on an official-cum-individual journey, also gave his blow to the attack. “Usha and I express their condolences to the victims of disastrous terrorist attacks in India, India. In the last few days, we have been away from the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them because they mourn this frightening attack.”
Saudi Arabia – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Saudi Arabia at the time of terrorist attack, has cut his official visit and is returning to New Delhi on Wednesday morning. Saudi crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also expressed his anguish over the terrorist attack in Kashmir and said that Saudi Arabia stands with India and will expand any support necessary in this time of sorrow.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah, who immediately left for Kashmir to meet intelligence and security agencies to receive updates on the terrorist attack. An investigation is also being done by security agencies. Writing on X, PM Modi said, “I strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. There is a condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured should be cured as soon as possible. All possible assistance is being provided to those people.”
He said that “The people behind this heinous act will be brought to justice … They will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unwavering and it will become even stronger.”
Italy – “Unhappy” on sad news, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also sent his condolences. “The terrorist attack in India became deeply saddened by today, resulting in many victims. Italy expressed his condolences to the affected families, injured, government and all Indians,” he wrote on his social media handle on X.
Israel – Israel was one of the first countries to condemn the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gidon Syre posted on X, “Pen
United Arab Emirates – The United Arab Emirates also issued a statement, in which it strongly condemned the incident, “The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the terrorist attack, which has targeted tourists in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in dozens of deaths of the government and simpathy. The attacks, as well as their desires of rapid recovery for all the injured.”
Iran – Iran’s government also expressed its tribute and condolences, saying, “We expand our heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of India, especially for the families of the victims of this attack, and wish a quick recovery and good health for the injured.”
Tuesday’s attack has been the worst terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years.
