Bhopal:
Two people befriended students from a private engineering college in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and then allegedly raped and blackmailed them with private videos, later forced to convert and get married. The police have formed a special investigation team to investigate the incident.
A 19 -year -old woman approached the police earlier this month and alleged that her college friend Farhan raped her and made private videos to blackmail her. The woman alleged that she was forced to introduce her friends to Farhan and her associates, Sahil, who allegedly raped and blackmailed her friends.
One of the remaining people is a minor. Accused, Farhan and Sahil allegedly hid their identity to befriend the college students. The accused allegedly forced them to convert and get married.
The case draws similarities with the infamous Ajmer rape case, including more than half a dozen students stuck in the web of allegedly cheating and exploitation since 2022.
The police have arrested Farhan and Sahil, and three zero firings have been registered in the POCSO Act, IT Act, Indian Nyaya SANHITA (BNS) classes and Madhya Pradesh Freedom sections of the Bag Sevenia, Jahangirabad, and Ashok Garden Police Stations.
During the investigation, the police recovered the video on the phone of the accused, which identified more suspects and the remaining people.
Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra confirmed the arrest and said, “We received some complaints, and an FIR based on them. Three separate complainants have come forward in the case. Two of the main accused have been arrested. It has also been added.
Sources indicate that many remaining people have not come out and have reported the incident for fear of defamation and social stigma. They have been given counseling support. Police believe that the gang operates systematically and may target other students.
