New Delhi:
Delhi Police on Saturday said an official that Delhi Police arrested the 21 -year -old engineering student with alleged mental health issues to send a mail to the men’s cricket team head coach and former BJP MP Gautam Gambhir.
The accused, known as Jigneshin Parmar from Gujarat, was arrested on Friday.
Police said Parmar sent a hazard mail to Gambhir on 22 April – the day the terrorists closed 26 people in Pahalgam in Kashmir with a suspicious Gmail account.
In a statement, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M. Harsh Vardhan said, “Parmar is an engineering student. He claims that he is suffering from mental health issues. Further investigation is on.” Police had earlier said that they have been informed about an alleged threat to an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir.
An email complaint was filed with Rajinder Nagar Police Station with a screenshot of danger mail.
Police sources said that Gambhir read “I Kill You” reader “IISIS Kashmir” as “I Kill You”.
The DCP said in the statement, “Gautam Gambhir is already a Delhi Police Protection. We do not comment on specific security arrangements.”
This is not the first time Gambhir was threatened. In 2022, he received similar threats, inspiring the authorities to tighten his safety measures.
