National Security Advisory Board re -worked amid stress on Pahalgam attack


New Delhi:

The government has re -prepared the National Security Advisory Board amid tension over the Pahalgam terror attack, appointing former intelligence chief Alok Joshi as its chairman.

Mr. Joshi, who has previously led a seven -member board involving the armed forces, police services and retired officers of the Foreign Service, who has led the major spy agency of the country – the country’s leading detective agency.

East Western Air Commander Air Marshal PM Sinha, East Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General AK Singh, and Rear Admiral Monty Khanna are now among the retired officers of military services in the board’s share.

Two retired officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) – Rajiv Ranjan Verma and Manmohan Singh – and a retired officer of the Indian Foreign Service, B Venkatesh Verma, are also part of the revised board.

The importance of improvement after the Pahgam massacre is the importance of 25 tourists and a pony ride operator by militants at Sightsee Baisran Meadow in Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to track and punish the terrorists involved in the attack, and said they would be chased to “Earth’s ends”.

He held a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) this morning, whose details are not yet known. Two more meetings – Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) and Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) – were also held at the official residence of the Prime Minister.

A cabinet briefing is also scheduled this evening.
