The killing of 26 tourists by terrorists with linkage from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir has increased tension between India and Pakistan. India has also responded to an effective fire in violation of ceasefire on the Line of Control (LOC) of Pakistan.

- According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), there are 14.75 lakh active military personnel and 16.16 lakh paramilitary policemen in India.
- There are 1,437 fixed-wing aircraft, 995 helicopters, 7,074 armored fighting vehicles (AFVs), and 11,225 artillery pieces in India. The defense budget for 2025 is $ 81 billion.
- For atomic preventive, India mainly uses land-based launch platforms. However, India can also distribute atomic bombs from the wind, and is developing its submarine force. It has intermediate-range ballistic missiles, and is testing an intercontinental-range version.

- The annual Global Defense Review ‘Global Firepower Index’ (GFP) compared India and Pakistan’s military strength shows that India has a better score with 0.1184 in GFP’s ‘Powerindex Score’ (PWRindx). According to GFP, a score of 0.00 is considered optimal. Under this index, India ranks 4th out of 145 countries in PWRindx Military Strength Rankings.
- GFP gave Pakistan a PWRindx of 0.2513, and ranked 12th out of 125 out of 145 in the global military power rankings. GFP data shows that Pakistan is at a rank which is three times less than India.
- The last biggest growth between the two neighbors took place in February 2019 when India bombed a terrorist camp inside Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK), which was retaliated against a suicide attack on a suicide attack on a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
- Since 2019, both sides have promoted their military capabilities. According to SIPRI, India is also the largest weapon importer in the world. The wholesale of India’s supply comes from Russia. New Delhi has also expanded military suppliers to include the US, France and Israel, as well as developing its domestic production including aircraft carriers, submarines and helicopters.
