Rahul Gandhi Pahalgam attack victim’s family meets in UP, demand justice

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met Shubam Dwivedi’s family members, who were among 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, and said that the opposition is demanding a special session of Parliament to provide justice to the victims.

Mr. Gandhi said that strict and concrete action should be taken against the terrorists. He said that the joint opposition has given full support to the government.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha reached Kanpur from Amethi and went to Mr. Dwivedi’s residence. He paid his tribute to Shubam and spoke to his family members.

Mr. Gandhi said, “Shubam met Dwivedi’s family members, who were martyred and consoled in a cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam today.”

The Congress leader said on X, “The whole nation stands with the bereaved families in this sad moment. Strict and concrete action should be taken against the terrorists, and the victim families should get justice.”

“For this purpose, the Joint Opposition has given full support to the government and demanded a special session of Parliament,” he said.

Giving information about the meeting in a message posted on its ‘X’ handle, the Congress said, “Attack in Pahalgam is a deep blow to the brotherhood and harmony of the country, which cannot be tolerated at any cost. We have to unite and answer terrorism.”

In another message, the party quoted Rahul as saying, “A special Parliament session should be held for those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack to discuss this serious matter.”

Earlier, Mr. Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a special session of Parliament in view of the Pahgam terror attack.

The seat that Shri Gandhi represented in Parliament on Tuesday began a two -day journey adjacent to Ribreli, his Lok Sabha Constitution, and Amethi.

He was accompanied by Ajay Rai, President of Uttar Pradesh Congress, who attended Dwivedi’s funeral on 23 April.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also visited Kanpur on 23 April to meet Dwivedi’s family members and said that the criminal of the Pahalgam terror strike would be left no stone unturned to do justice.

Dwivedi, a businessman from Kanpur, got married only on 12 February. On 22 April, the Dwivedi house was destroyed as it was reported that a 31 -year -old man was closed by terrorists in front of his wife in Pahgam.

He went to Kashmir on a week’s holiday with his wife and nine other family members on 16 April.

Twenty -six people, most of the tourists, were killed and many were injured when militants set fire to a meadow on 22 April near Pahalgam, a popular tourist city in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
