Six members of a family, most of them were drowned in a river in Kheda district of Gujarat on Wednesday evening, police said. The incident took place in Kabiz village, he said.

“Six persons – four women and two men – either brother -in -law or cousin in the age group of 14-21 years – went to bathe in the river Meshwo, where they drowned,” said Rajesh Gandhi, Superintendent of Police of Khed.

“The body of all of them is thrown out,” he said.

Of the six victims, two are residents of Kabij village, and four are their cousins ​​who came to meet Ahmedabad, they said.

Officials said after the incident was informed about the incident, a team of Mehmadabad Police and Fire Brigade reached the spot and started a rescue operation.
