Tesla’s India’s head Prashant Menon resigned as Elon Musk’s company prepares to launch the country: Report

Tesla’s Country Head for India has resigned in the company after nine years and the US EV maker’s third largest car in the world’s third largest car market, Bloomberg News on Thursday described the people familiar with the matter.

The report stated that Tesla’s Chinese teams will oversee India’s operation of the firm led by Elon Musk, which is not an immediate successor, which has been said to be cited as anonymous sources.

The report said that Prashant Menon is also leaving the post as the chairman of Tesla India Board.

Tesla, who has planned India’s market entry over the years, did not immediately respond to a Reuters’ request for comment.

India is working on a trade deal with the US which includes lower auto tariffs, a possible win for Tesla, which has achieved showrooms location to start selling imported cars in the country this year.

The company has posted two dozen middle-level jobs in India, including stores, service and customer relationship managers, indicating progress in its plans to launch in the country.
