What is anti-tank guided missile India, used to destroy Pakistani positions

New Delhi:

Indian Army has used Anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) Defense sources said this morning to destroy many Pakistani military posts along the Line of Control (LOC). It comes under vengeance for cross -border firing by Pakistani soldiers as tension between the two countries has increased Terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir 26 people were killed.

What is an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM)?

An anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) is a weapon system designed to destroy heavy armored vehicles, especially tanks. These missiles are “guided”, meaning that they can be stears or locked on a target, making it accurate than the old tank-tank weapons.

They can be removed from the shoulder, from the tripod, or from vehicles and aircraft. Their main advantage is that they allow soldiers to attach the nervous hazards from safe distance.

How do they work?

Most ATGMs use something called a size charge. It is a special type of explosive that focuses all its power in one direction, enough to punch through thick tank armor.

Some modern ATGMs use tendem warheads. This means that they have two explosions. The first explosion hits and activates the external security of the tank, which is called explosive reactive shield (ERA). The ERA is designed to prevent missiles by exploding outwards. The second explosion is fine and breaks from under the main armor of the tank.

The ATGM is made to work during both day and night, making them useful in all types of conditions. Some of them also have a ‘Top-Atac’ mode, which means they can kill the tank from above where they are the weakest.

Many modern ATGMs are called a dual-pode seeker, which helps them to find and follow their goals more accurately.

Can an ATGM be stopped?

Some tanks use reactive armor, which are special plates that explode outwards when they are a hit to stop the missile. Other people use slat armor, which is a metal cage that can play with a missile fuse and blow it quickly.

There are also systems that can jam the signals of the missile or confuse it with decoy.

Use a system called Advanced Tank Trophy, such as Merkwa in Israel. It can spot up incoming missiles and shoot them before hitting them. Such an active security system (APS) is light, faster and smart.

Tanks can use smoke, dust or rapid return fire to hide or destroy the missile operator, before they can launch or guide the missile. This method was more common before today’s “Fire-Firgate” missiles, which do not require help after launching.

More than 130 countries today use ATGM, and have been widely seen in conflicts such as Russia-Ukraine War.

On the night of Tuesday-Buzurg’s night, India launched air strikes on deep terrorist camps under Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). Operation vermilion And then successfully thwarted Islamabad’s missiles and drone attacks. Officials said at least 50 drones were rapidly neutral for the purpose of military establishments in Jammu, Pathankot and Udampur.
