Officials said on Saturday that the CBI has arrested the Commissioner (exemption), Hyderabad, Genev Lal Lavidia for allegedly to appeal in favor of the Shapoorji Pallaonji Group for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70 lakh.
Lavidya, 2004- Primary Indian Revenavis India batch, The Guard of Orth Connectivity Wire, Deputy Deputy Jeronal Geronji Group; Pelitits of Pelitits; Nata Shri Ram Galle Road; And Vivek Lehin Hussain Shah, AE said.
There was no immediate response to the Shapoorji Pallaonji group on arrest.
According to the CBI, Shah was allegedly bribing Lavidia, who was also charging additional fees as the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeal Unit -8 and Unit -7) under the office of Income Tax, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax.
The CBI filed an FIR against Lavidia and 14 others and the institutions on the allegations that officials “in Milan Milan” were involved in corrupt and illegal activities to achieve unfair satisfaction to expand illegal favor to private parties “in favor of” private parties “in favor of private parties, whose appeals were pending with him,” the agency said in a statement.
In Mumbai, one of the accused was caught by the Commissioner accepting a bribe of Rs 70 lakh. Subsequently, Lavidia and his colleagues were arrested from Hyderabad, a CBI spokesman.
The spokesperson said that the agency searched 18 places in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Khammam, Visakhapatnam and New Delhi, which led to the recovery of about Rs 69 lakh in cash in addition to bribe amount.
All the accused were produced before special CBI courts in Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
