‘Fake’ doctors perform heart surgery in Madhya Pradesh Hospital, kills 7

Officials of Madhya Pradesh district are investigating the allegations of a fake doctor who have allegedly killed at least 7 in a private missionary hospital in Damoh city in the state.

Reports of 7 deaths at the hospital within a month raised an alarm in the region, alleging that an individual, N John Cam worked in a Christian missionary hospital, a famous British doctor claiming to be a cardiologist by the same name. Then he later underwent heart surgery on patients. Officials said the surgery patients later died.

In further investigation, the real name of the accused was revealed to be Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav.

Earlier, Deepak Tiwari, a lawyer and district president of the Child Welfare Committee, claimed that the official death count is 7, the actual count is very high. The advocate had earlier filed a complaint with Damoh District Magistrate.

“Some patients, who did not die, came to us and told us about the incident that he had taken his father to the hospital, and he was ready to operate the man, but he was a little apprehensive, so he took his father to Jabalpur. We came to know that this is a fake doctor who is working in the hospital;” Documents, “Tiwari told Annie.

Priyank Kanongo, a member of the National Human Rights Commission, said that the Missionary Hospital was also getting money from the government under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

“We received a complaint that a fake doctor had undergone surgery of patients at the missionary hospital. We were also told that the missionary hospital is also involved with the Ayushman Bharat scheme and is taking money from the government for this. It is a serious complaint; we have taken cognizance of the matter, and currently a investigation is going on,” Kanongo said.

Following the allegations, the district investigation team seized all the documents from the hospital. During the investigation, it was revealed that the copyer had filed fake documents similar to the famous British doctor. The accused has been accused of being involved in several controversies, including a criminal case registered in Hyderabad.

Damoh District Collector Sudhir Kochhar has said that after the investigation ends, he will give a statement.

Abhishek Tiwari, Damoh SP told ANI, “We are currently investigating the issue of several deaths in the missionary hospital.”

The fake doctor has been accused of first posing as British doctor N John Cam, where in July 2023, he tweeted (now known as X), was asked to send Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to France to stop the riots. At that time, the tweet was mocked by many leaders. The person has allegedly posted photoshopped pictures with CM Yogi Adityanath under fake name.
