Karnataka BJP expels the local leader for unfair behavior against women

Mangaluru:

The Karnataka BJP on Monday expelled one of its local leaders for an alleged inappropriate behavior towards a woman in Mangaluru district.

Padmanabh Shahalya, vice -president of Idkidu Gram Panchayat, has been suspended from the party after registration of FIR against him.

The incident took place in Idkidu village near Bantwal Town, where successful a woman allegedly saw a woman in a public place on a woman when she was walking home. The woman later filed a police complaint against the BJP leader.

After the registration of the complaint and the police investigation began, the BJP’s Putur Assembly Constitution Unit issued a removal order.

In the official order, the party said: “Padmanabh Sapanya’s primary membership has been canceled and he has been expelled from the party with immediate effect.”

The party further stated that the action was taken to light of indecent behavior, which not only insulted a woman, but also damaged the party’s image, which is committed to maintaining dignity and ensuring representation for women. The expelled leader has also been directed to resign from his post as the vice -president of the Gram Panchayat.

According to reports, the incident stems from a dispute in which the woman questioned the accused on the establishment of a gate which took the road to her house. While she was walking on the road, the accused allegedly exposed herself, and the act was allegedly captured by the video.

The victim approached the Vitla police station and filed a formal complaint. The police have registered an FIR and are currently investigating the case.

The removal order was issued by Dayanand Shetty Ujeramru, president of Putur Rural Unit.

BJP MLA CT Ravi was arrested for using an derogatory and sexist word about women and child development minister and child development Laxmi Hebbalkar during the Winter Session of Karnataka State Legislature in Belagavi. However, Ravi and the BJP party have dismissed the allegations in this regard.
