A friendship that started with Instagram message and turned into love, followed by a rejected marriage proposal and then chilling words – “Agar tum meri nahi ho sakti, toh mein tumhe kisi aur ki bhi nahi hone dunga (If you cannot be mine, I will not let you have anyone else) “.
A year later, a woman turned away her lover after knowing about her criminal background, trying to pressurize her to marry her in an attempt to strangle her in a public park on Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The 18 -year -old woman met a man known as Aman Sonkar on Instagram, but was later revealed that several criminal cases were registered against her. After this, he took himself away from him. Then he started pressurizing her to marry and threatened to refuse her if she refused. Sonkar used to call different members of the woman’s family from different numbers, which threatened her life.
On Friday morning, Sonkar called her to a park, threatening to make her personal photos viral. When they met, they pressurized him for marriage. Unable to take rejection, he tried to strangle her with his dupatta. He ran away with passers -by intervening. A video of the incident went viral online.
The woman and her mother filed a complaint, but Sonkar was not found when the police reached her house. An FIR was lodged against the man under Section 351 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 115 (2) (voluntary injury) of the Bharat Nai Code.
