Alert issued in Karnataka
The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for heavy rains in coastal Karnataka, while North and South Interior Karnataka has a ‘orange’ alert for very heavy rains. In Bengaluru, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in districts including Udupi, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Havari and Shivamogga.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center said in a post on X, “Widely moderate rains in coastal districts and lightning with lightning and heavy rains are expected at different places across the state in southern interior districts from 19 to 22 May.

An IMD official said, “According to the current pattern of cyclonic circulation, Karnataka, especially the coastal parts will get heavy rainfall. Bengalu is also expected to receive heavy rainfall for the next two days.”
