Judge trial in Malagaon Blast Case Transfer in 2008

Special NIA Court Judge AK Lahoti, while conducting the case in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, has been posted in the annual general transfer of the district judges, the case was likely to reserve the case for the court’s decision.

The transfer order for Lahoti and other judges issued by the Registrar General of Bombay High Court, the courts will become effective on reopening after summer vacation on 9 June.

The order mentions that the judicial officers who are under the order of transfer are “in all cases to finish by” directed (A) decisions, in which the hearing has already expired and (B) should try to settle all part-hearing cases before submitting the charge. ” A defense counsel said that at the final hearing on Saturday, Judge Lahoti directed the prosecution and rescue amount to wrap the remaining arguments by 15 April and was expected to reserve the case for the next day.

Six people were killed and more than 100 injured, when an explosive equipment on a motorcycle went to a mosque in Malegaon, a city, about 200 km from Mumbai on September 29, 2008 in Nashik district of North Maharashtra.

BJP leader Pragya Thakur, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit and five others are being tried for his alleged involvement in the case.

The accused are facing prosecution under the provisions of stringent illegal activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The matter was investigated by the anti -Maharashtra Squad (ATS) before transferring to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2011.
