The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has predicted thunder and medium-to-round rain till Saturday, a forecast that has expressed concern with the monsoon, has reached the city so far.
Some parts of Maharashtra may receive heavy rains with thundering winds between May 21 and May 24, after a cyclonic circulation that is likely to be over the East-Central Arabian Sea from the Karnataka coast. PTIThe weather system is expected to affect parts of Maharashtra, including south Konkan, south central Maharashtra and Mumbai, and will bring heavy rainfall with winds reaching 30–40 km or more.
Heavy rains, thunder and electricity brought Mumbai to a stay on Tuesday, resulting in incidents related to floods and rain.
The average rainfall recorded between May 20 and 8 am on May 21 was 24 mm in the city, 26 mm in the eastern suburbs and 40 mm in western suburbs. East-monsoon showers gave birth to traffic snarl. A major connector between the western and the eastern suburbs, the Andheri subway was put into the flood. Suburban train passengers claimed that local services were running with some delays, although railway officials said they were unaffected.

Rain -related incidents were seen in Pune, in which water leakage was reported at the city airport. Local residents claimed that water from impure drains flowed on the roads.
Ratnagiri, train services on the Konkan railway route on 20 May, were interrupted after a landslide between Varwali and Villavade stations in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra on Tuesday. A large boulder fell on a large boulder tracks at around 6.30 am amid heavy rains, affecting rail traffic on the 741-Cilometer-Lumb route, connecting Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. The services started again around 8 pm. Trains continued to run delayed amidst the rain.

Rain also killed Goa, IndiGo issued an advisory warning that flight operations could be affected, causing potential delays or disruptions. Two flights from Pune and Mumbai were diverted from Goa International Airport in Dabolim on Tuesday evening respectively due to poor visibility.
The Met Department has warned that light to moderate rains with light thunder and continuing to continue at some places on North Goa and South Goa till date. IMD Goa Station in -charge NP Kulkarni told ANI, “We have given orange warning for two days and after that we are shifting for yellow warnings. For today, we predicted heavy rains from very heavy rains and it will be only tomorrow.”
IMD has predicted the onset of monsoon in Kerala on 27 May, the first since 2009.
