President Draupadi Murmu honored six Kirti Chakras on Thursday, which included four posthumous, to the army personnel and Jammu and Kashmir Police to show indomitable courage and extraordinary valor in the line of duty.
Kirti Chakra is India’s second largest Mayurla Bravery Award.
Colonel Manpreet Singh of Sikh Light Infantry, two other army personnel of Rashtriya Rifles and a Jammu and Kashmir Police Officer have been posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, according to the list of award winners shared by the government.
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the President Murmu, who is the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, also introduced 33 valor chakras, which also included armed forces personnel, central armed police forces and state/center area police personnel, who have been stated in a statement in a statement.
Major Malla Ram Gopal Naidu of Maratha Light Infantry, 56 Rashtra Rifles, and Major Manjeet of Punjab Regiment, 22 Rashtra Rifles received the Kirti Chakra.
Rifleman Ravi Kumar, The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, 63 Rashtra Rifles; Colonel Manpreet Singh of Sikh Light Infantry, 19 nation rifles; Naik Dilwar Khan, The Regiment of Artillery, 28 Rashtra Rifles; And Hyun Muzammil Bhat, Superintendent of Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, was posthumously awarded India’s second largest Mayurala Bravery Award.
Rashtrapati Bhavan later also shared photos from the ceremony on its official X handle.
“President Draupadi Murmu honored the Shaurya Chakra on Squadron Leader Deepak Kumar, Flying (Pilot). His undivided courageous decision ensured the safety of a valuable national property and enhances the possible loss of life,” this has been said in a post.
