Ramanagara District to be renamed ‘Bengaluru South’, Says DK Shivakumar

Bengaluru:

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar announced on Thursday that the name of Ramnagara district would be changed to ‘Bengaluru South’ for all administrative purposes.

Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, DK Shivkumar said, “From today, it has been announced in the cabinet that Ramnagara will be renamed to Bengaluru South. All headquarters will be in Ramnagar”.

“Today, the entire cabinet was discussed. I am very happy to announce that Ramnagara district was a part of Bangalore district, headquarters will remain in Ramnagar, but for all administrative purposes the district will be called Bangalore South …”

Meanwhile, on his earlier statement about the “wedding gift” by actor Ranya Rao, Shivkumar, accused in the smuggling of gold by the state Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar, Shivkumar said, “It’s not a dispute. Why should it be a dispute? I investigated with Dr. G.

Earlier in the day, G. Parmeshwar said that whatever the result of the investigation, he is “ready to cooperate”.

“Yesterday, ED Officers visited our institutions-Siddharth Medical College in Tumarkur, Siddharth Medical College at Begur and Siddharth Academy Academy of Higher Education.

“As a person who believes in the law of the country, whatever comes out of verification or discovery, I am ready to cooperate,” he said.

When asked about the reports connecting these discoveries in the case of actor Ranya Rao Gold Smuggling, God refused to comment. “I don’t want to comment on this time. Let the investigation be completed,” he said.

Ranya Rao was arrested on 3 March at Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru when DRI officials found him to carry gold.

On Tuesday, the Economic Offenses Court granted conditional bail to the Kannada actor in the smuggling case.
