Shahjahanpur:
A 32 -year -old man, who came to Shahjahanpur district to attend a wedding ceremony, was shot in an alleged relationship, police said on Saturday.
SP Rajesh Dwivedi told PTI that Amit Trivedi (32) of Lakhimpur Kheri district had come to attend the wedding ceremony from the bride’s side in Jeba Mukundpur village under the boundary of Nigohi police station.
During the wedding procession on Friday night, Trivedi’s body was found with a gun bullet wound on a road outside the village, the SP said.
People going to Trivedi told the police that his in-laws were from Jeba Mukundpur, while his wife died about 2-3 years ago.
The official said Trivedi was allegedly in a relationship with a woman of his in -laws’ family, which could have led to a fatal shooting.
The police have registered a case against two accused persons – Abhishek and Aman based on a complaint lodged by Trivedi’s uncle.
Abhishek is the cousin of Trivedi’s late wife, the locals said. The accused pair is missing since the incident, the SP said.
