Bahraich:
Officials said on Sunday that a woman was killed in a leopard attack in a village under Katharanghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Bahriich district of Uttar Pradesh.
On Saturday night, Zahira (48) was sleeping on the open roof of her house in Ayodhyapurwa village of Sujauli One Range, when she was attacked by a leopard, Divisional Forest Officer B Shivshankar told PTI.
This village is located in the Sujauli forest border which falls under the Kataranghat Wildlife Sanctuary.
The DFO said, “The women fell from the roof on the ground. Two of her children were also sleeping with her. They were struggling to save their mother from the leopard and made noise, due to which the leopard ran towards the fields,” the DFO said that the woman died on the spot.
He said that the body has been sent for post -mortem and immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 has been given to the woman’s family.
