In a hearty gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to the late mythical Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar, who expresses his deep praise for the extraordinary contribution of the actor in Indian cinema.
The Prime Minister sent a special letter to Mr. Kumar’s wife Shashi Goswami, which accepts the immense influence of the actor on the film industry and his role in shaping the nation’s cultural fabric. In the letter, PM Modi praised Manoj Kumar’s prestigious performances in films resonant with generations of Indians, especially his depiction of patriotic characters made an indelible impression on the hearts of the people.
The Prime Minister described Mr. Kumar as “true icon of Indian cinema”, whose films not only entertained, but also made the values of patriotism, integrity and flexibility.
In the letter, PM Modi also reminded about his personal conversation with Manoj Kumar. A letter filled with praise and respect reflects meaningful moments that both shared during their previous meetings and have a profound impact of Mr. Kumar on both Indian cinema and the nation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi condoled the traded demise of the late actor through a post on his X handle. He tweeted, “The passage of mythological actor and filmmaker Mr. Manoj Kumar ji was deeply saddened. He was an icon in Indian cinema, especially remembered for his patriotism, which was also reflected in his films.
Mythological actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his patriotic roles, died on April 4 at the age of 87 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
On 5 April, the actor was cremated in Mumbai with full state honors.
