A woman kidnapped by auto driver, snake-blesser, knife in Odisha: Police


Jajpur:

A woman was allegedly kidnapped by the driver of an auto-rickshaw, which she used to return home, raped the minor and then stabbed several times, the police said.

The incident occurred in Jajpur city of Odisha on the night of 22 April, but it came to light on Sunday, after the woman in the late 20s, a police complaint was filed after improvement in her condition.

Police said he appreciated an auto-rickshaw while returning from work, but instead of taking him home, the driver took him to a secluded place on the outskirts of the city.

When she went into the vehicle, there were two men separate from the driver, and at a secluded place, three more intoxicated people were waiting for him.

The accused tied the woman’s hand to her dupatta and raped her. They stabbed her with a knife and ran away, leaving her to die there, alleged it.

She somehow managed to seek the help of a passerby who informed her family. He was admitted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition, with serious injuries on his back, hands and palm.

Police said they have registered a case and started an investigation.

Inspector-in-charge Sharat Chandra Patra of Jajpur Town Police Station said, “We are working to make all the culprits involved in the crime NAB.”
