AAP appoints Punjab Minister Aman Arora as the new president of his state unit

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab on Friday appointed new and renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora as the new president of its state unit.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that he will talk to the AAP leadership on the appointment of the full -time president of the party’s state unit, it comes a month later, which expresses his desire to step down from the post.

Aman Arora, a prominent Hindu face of AAP in Punjab, the president of the party’s state unit and MLA Amanshar Singh will be the executive chairman of Sheri Kalsey.

The move has recently come a day before the results of Bipol for four assembly seats – Gidrebaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabwal (SC) and Barnala.

The by-elections were required after the selection of the MLAs of the Lok Sabha earlier this year.

Bypolls are being seen as a litmus test for the value, whose government has completed two and a half years in the office.

“Today, I have entrusted the responsibility of party president to my two close colleagues, cabinet minister Aman Arora and MLA Amanshar Singh Sheri Kalsi. The party has decided that Aman Arora will work as party president and Sheri Kalsi, which is as a working president.”

He said, “I am confident of both my colleagues that they will strengthen the party and organization in Punjab in the coming time and take it to new heights.”

Last month, after addressing a rally in Chabwal, Bhagwant Mann said that he had been holding the post of party president in Punjab for seven years.

“As Chief Minister, I have big responsibilities. I have 13-14 departments. I will talk to the party to appoint a full-time state unit chief to divide the responsibilities,” he then said.

Mann was appointed as the AAP Punjab unit chief in 2017 when he was an MP from Sangrur.

He led the party in Punjab during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and 2022 assembly elections. AAP came to power in 2022, won 92 seats in the 117 -member Punjab Assembly.

Referring to the two appointments, the party said, “This decision reflects AAP’s commitment to strengthen its leadership in Punjab and prepare for future election challenges.” According to the statement, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Arora and Kalsi.

Kejriwal expressed confidence in his leadership, highlighting his proven dedication and ability to strengthen the party’s organizational structure in Punjab.

He said, “I am confident that Aman Arora and Sheri Kalsey will make tireless efforts to address the issues of people and take the party to more heights,” he said, wishing them success in their new responsibilities.

The statement said that Aman Arora, a two-task MLA of Sunam and Cabinet Minister in the Punjab government, is a prominent Hindu leader known for his inclusive approach and dynamic leadership.

“After achieving its seat with the highest difference in the state in the 2022 assembly elections, Arora has demonstrated a strong ground support and comprehensive appeal,” it said.

Batala MLA, Kalsi has also emerged as a dedicated party leader. His appointment as the Executive President highlighted the AAP’s attention on bringing energetic and result-oriented leaders to strengthen the organization at all levels.

Aman Arora expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Kejriwal, Maan, Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, and the party’s leadership for handing him and Batala MLA with important responsibilities.

Aman Arora voluntarily praised Bhagwant Mann for expressing his desire to step down as the president of the state party, paving the way for this new leadership.

He promised to construct a strong organizational foundation already established in Punjab and strengthen the party.

Aman Arora also encouraged a collaborative spirit within the party, emphasizing that AAP acts like a family.

On the other hand, Kalsi underlined his determination to fulfill his responsibilities with dedication and attention, worked with senior leaders of AAP Punjab to make effective decisions.

He assured the party leadership and workers of his commitment to build the party’s successes and bring meaningful results for the people of Punjab.
