Nashik:
In a tragic incident, a 80 -year -old city resident allegedly killed his sick wife and died of suicide in Nashic, police said on Thursday.
Muralidhar Ramchandra Joshi, principal of a retired school, said in his alleged suicide note that he was “releasing” his wife Lata (76) with his prolonged illness and himself.
He was also watching his wife, a former teacher, with the help of acting Seema Rathod for the last four years, an official of the suburb police station said.
On Wednesday afternoon, Rathod left the couple’s house on the jail road after finishing the morning work. When she returned around 7 and opened the door with her keys, she found the couple dead, the officer said.
The official said that Joshi had choke his wife and hanged himself, overtook a suicide note.
“I love my wife Lata very much. He is suffering from bed and is fed up with his illness. I am releasing her with her illness and myself,” read in the note.
The suicide note appreciated Rathod for serving Lata diligently and directed that she should be paid Rs 50,000 which she had kept aside. “Money is kept separate for our funeral and no one should spend money for our funeral,” said this.
The note also states that Lata should be decorated with a new saree, mangalsutra and other jewelery before her funeral.
The official said the couple’s two sons had settled in Mumbai.
