After New Delhi’s strong move, Pakistan shuts down ports for Indian ships

Pakistan has banned the use of its ports by the Indian flag carrier, for the latest punitive measures by New Delhi, restrictions on imports and banning of Pakistani vessels in their ports, against Islamabad.

India on Saturday banned the import of goods coming through Pakistan and also entered their ports of Pakistani ships, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country is committed to taking “firm and decisive” against terrorists and their supporters.

The Pakistani newspaper said that Pakistan on Saturday ordered that no “Indian flag carrier would be allowed to go to any Pakistani port”.

“In view of the recent development of maritime positions with the neighboring country, Pakistan followed measures to implement marine sovereignty, economic interest and national security: Indian flag carrier will not be allowed to visit any Pakistani port, Pakistani flag bearer will not report any Indian port (and).

The Dawn newspaper quoted an order issued by Pakistan’s marine affairs ports and the Ministry of Shipping Wing on Saturday late on Saturday night.

Relations between two neighboring countries killed 26 people after the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April, mostly tourists.

Among the latest punitive measures against Pakistan, which immediately implemented Indo-Pak tension in view of the deadly Pahgam terror attack, India also suspended the exchange of parcels to the neighboring country through air and surface routes.

Apart from banning the entry of Pakistani ships into Indian ports, India also stopped Indian ships from visiting Pakistani ports according to the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS). Officials said restrictions were imposed with immediate effect.

According to the order of the Government of India, complete ban on import of all goods from Pakistan was imposed on the basis of national security and public policy.

Although 200 percent of import duties were imposed on Pakistani goods in 2019, direct imports were stopped after the Pulwama attack, the latest decision also banned the entry of Pakistani goods rooted through third countries.

India came to a week-half after a week in India when India announced punitive measures against Pakistan, in which the Indus Water Treaty was suspended, the only operation in the Attari shut down the land border crossing and downgrade diplomatic relations after the terrorist attack.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army said in a statement that it has launched a successful training of the Abdali weapon system-A surface-to-miss missile with a range of 450 km, saying that its purpose was to ensure the operation of soldiers and validate major technical parameters.

In New Delhi, people familiar with the matter said that India considers the “provocative” act of the ballistic missile’s test launch.

A police spokesman said that after hunting for Pahalgam attackers, the Sri Lankan police searched a flight coming from Chennai to Colombo, which could be on a suspected board, a police spokesperson said in the Sri Lankan capital. Indian officials have identified four terrorists – including two Pakistani citizens – behind Pahalgam Carnez.

A statement by the National Carrier Srikan Airlines said that the aircraft was thoroughly inspected and later approved for further operations.
