The Supreme Court today ordered Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah to “apologize” to Indian Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi to Indian Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi to “apologize” to Colonel Sophia Qureshi, another Minister of State has come in support of him.
BJP MLA and Madhya Pradesh Minister Pratima Bagri said that the words used by Mr. Shah were “unfair”, but he is “clearly apologized” and is ready to apologize several times as per the need.
Mr. Shah’s remarks, who have widely criticized the opposition, military veterans and even some members of the ruling BJP, led the first Information Report (FIR) against the minister.
The Supreme Court also refused to remain on the direction of the Madhya Pradesh High Court to initiate criminal proceedings against Mr. Shah, and dismissed a petition for interim security by arrest.
In support of her party’s ally today, Ms. Bagri said that Mr. Shah’s remarks were incorrectly presented, for which she had already apologized.
The Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing said, “The words used in his statement were unfair. He also said that he also said what he meant. Certainly, words have been misunderstood, but had no intention of insulting anyone.
“They have clearly apologized for this. If they have to apologize repeatedly on the basis of the situation, they are ready to do the same, which also shows that they did not intend to humiliate anyone. The statement was incorrectly presented. It was shown incorrectly, for which Minister Vijay Shah has already apologized,” Sayed “Shushree Bagri.
Mr. Shah commented in a public address in Raikunda village of Indore on 12 May. The comments were widely considered derogatory to communal, gender, and Colonel Qureshi, a senior Indian Army officer who has become mainly in the National Press briefing on Operation Sindoor, often appearing with Foreign Secretary Vyamri Missory and Wing Commander Vyamika Singh.
In his speech, Mr. Shah mentioned a recent terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed, and attempted to attract a contrast with the Indian Army’s response.
He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “sent him to him [terrorists’] Sister ” – A veil reference for Colonel Qureshi – to retaliate against people on a military aircraft.
