On Thursday, the Nationalist Congress Party had expelled a local leader and his son when he was abolished in the case of dowry harassment and suicide.
Shivaji Garje, head of NCP of Pune district, said in a statement that both Rajendra Hagavane and his son Sushil – both have currently fled.
Rajendra’s daughter -in -law Vaishnavi (26) allegedly hanged himself at her in -laws’ house in Bavdan area near Pune on 16 May.
Her parents alleged that she had given 51 tolas (595 grams) of gold, silver and an SUV to her husband’s family at the time of marriage, but the Hagavane family still harassed her, demanding that she brings Rs 2 crore to buy land.
A first information report was filed against her husband Shashank, mother -in -law Rajendra Hagavane, Rajendra Hagavane, Bhabhi Karishma, and brother -in -law Sushil, which was under relevant sections of the Indian Justice (BNS) concerned for suicide and domestic violence, police said.
An official said that the police arrested the husband, mother -in -law and the victim’s sister -in -law, while Rajendra and Sushil are on run.
Suraj Chavan, president of Maharashtra NCP Youth Wing, said that the woman’s death was “stain on humanity”.
He said, “We condemn this and demand justice for Vaishnavi. Those responsible should face strict action,” he said.
He said that the party’s head and Maharashtra vice-president Ajit Pawar has always maintained a zero-assessment policy towards serious misconduct by the party members.
Chavan said, “Ajit Pawar himself called the police on Wednesday, instructed him to arrest the accused on the run and take strict action,” Chavan said, the party does not condemn such acts.
He said that NCP should not be linked to a domestic event.
The 10-month-old child of Vaishnavi, also related to the Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali C consolidation-NCP, said, “Currently, along with relatives of Hagavanes, will be handed over to his parents.”
Meanwhile, a photo of the couple’s wedding, where Ajit Pawar has been seen handing the couple a key to the SUV gifted to the couple, on social media.
