From his tight house in his ancestral village Jhunni Kala in Purnia district of Bihar, the parents of the Indian Air Force officer, proudly, remembered his chest swelling, luxurious young student, who always dreamed of joining the armed forces and went to play an important role in one of the most important counter -treatment missions in India.
In the irrigation department and a housewife, the son of a clerk, Air Marshal Bharti always performed well academically, and due to this he was selected for Sainik School in Tilia, which is now Jharkhand. He obtained admission to the National Defense Academy (NDA) in Pune, taking an important step towards realizing his childhood dream.
Air Marshal Bharti’s mother Umela Devi said, “She was as simple as a child and still continues in the same way. She always said that she wanted to join the armed forces, even when she was a child, and she achieved it,” said Air Marshall Bharti’s mother Umila Devi.
Air Marshal Bharti joined the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in 1987. He was awarded the President’s Air Force Medal in the year 2008 and was promoted to Air Marshal in 2023. He has been a commanding officer of a Sukho -30 squadron and was posted as a senior staff officer (mother -in -law) in the Central Air Command, before he handled his current assignment.
Residents of Jhunni Kala said that Air Marshal Bharti visited the village about a year ago and interacted with everyone as he always does.

“Like his parents, they have no wind, and it has also been passed to their children. They meet, congratulate and interact with everyone, and despite being a senior officer, there is no security personnel with them. Jeevan Jeevach Lal Yadav, father of Air Marshal Bharti, said that he did not know about the part played in the strike at major terrorist bases in Pakistan until his name was mentioned in the papers.
“He came here about a year ago. My son does not share any confidential details with us, we only know the wider stroke of what we do. I am very happy that our country is achieving new heights – Operation Sindoor was a success and a role to play the role of my son. It was very happy and proud of me,” a beaming Mr. Yadav said.
Proud mother Urmila Devi said that Air Marshal Bharti is one ‘Deshbhakt’ (Patriot) and continuing patriotic acts.
“My son has brightened the spotlight on Jhunni Kala and Purnia … They have done well for themselves and have ensured that their children have done the same. They have married a woman from Kashmir … I don’t have much to say how proud I am, it is to see the world. I am happy. I am happy. The world knows that the country is proud,” she said.
