Lucknow:
The Allahabad High Court on Friday refused to intervene in a petition filed against Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Wadra, which was on her “controversial” comment after the Pahgam terror attack.
Congress Parliamentary Party son-in-law Sonia Gandhi and party MP Rahul Gandhi’s brother-in-law, Vadra triggered a line, suggesting that non-Muslims were targeted in Pahgam as terrorists feel that Muslims are being “abused” in the country.
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court said that the petitioners have other legal routes available.
A division bench of Justices Rajan Roy and Om Prakash Shukla passed an order on a petition filed by the Hindu front for justice and others.
The petition had demanded a court directive to form a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate Vadra’s statement. It also demanded action against the Vadra under various provisions of the Indian Joint Code (BNS).
Twenty -six people, most of the tourists, were killed and many were injured when militants set fire to a meadow on 22 April near Pahalgam, a popular tourist city in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
