Amit Shah on ‘removed’ K Annamalai for AIADMK alliance

Chennai:

BJP’s Tamil Nadu president, Union Home Minister and senior party leader Amit Shah refused to be attracted to the speculation around the removal of K Annamalai, saying that Mr. Annamalai still holds the post.

During a press conference on Friday, announced that the alliance between AIADMK and BJP was being renovated, Mr. Shah was asked about the removal of Mr. Annamalai as Adapadi’s Palaniswami did not want the tie-up to proceed. “This is not true at all. Shri Annamalai is still the state president,” a smile said, Mr. Shah said, before pointing to the leader, who was sitting on his left, and adding, “This is why he is sitting with me”.

AIADMK chief Palaniswami, who was sitting in the authority of Mr. Shah, was smiling with everyone.

After a few minutes on the issue of Annamalai, pressed again and asked if he would be given a responsibility at the central level, the minister said, “Leave some things for our party too. Don’t worry so much about my party, we will run it well.”

Mr. Shah’s comment came one day that the BJP received only one nomination for the post of Tamil Nadu President of the party – from Nanar Nagendran, who is Tirunelveli MLA and current vice -president – paves the way for him to be unopposed. The name of Shri Nagendran was proposed by Mr. Annamalai and three other senior leaders, including the East and Union Minister L. Murugan of Shri Annamalai and former-Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan.

Announcing this, Mr. Shah wrote on X that Mr. Annamalai’s contribution was “unprecedented” and BJP would take advantage of his skills in the party’s national structure “.

“Tamil Nadu BJP only got nomination for the post of state president from Mr. @Nainarbjp Ji. Tamil Nadu as the President of the BJP Unit, Mr. United.

Situation?

While the BJP has not made significant electoral benefits in Tamil Nadu as Mr. Annamalai was appointed as the head of the state unit in 2021, the 40 -year -old is credited with giving it more visibility.

Sources had told NDTV that when Mr. Palaniswami met Mr. Shah in New Delhi last month, he had emphasized as a condition to join the party again on the expulsion of Shri Annamalai. AIADMK felt that former IPS officer, engineer and MBA tried to reduce their primacy in the state alliance and project the BJP and themselves as major protests in Tamil Nadu. The fact is that he criticized many AIADMK leaders, only in the reasons that the party wanted they left.
