The prices of Amul milk in variants in the country will be effectively increased by Rs 2 per liter from May 1 (Thursday), which is a marketing federation, which announces a dairy brand on Wednesday, creating an increase in input costs in commodity production.
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) said in a release that an increase in MRP (maximum retail price) turns 3-4 percent increase in an increase of 3-4 percent in an increase of 3-4 percent, which is much less than average food inflation.
The headquarters of Anand, Gujarat, are the headquarters of the Federation Markets Dairy products under the popular ‘Amul’ brand.
“GCMMF, the market of milk and milk products under the brand name of Amul has increased the price of fresh pouches of milk by 2 rupees per liter in all markets across the country since May 1, 2025,” said the Federation.
The Federation said that it has not increased the prices of fresh pouch milk since June 2024.
“This price hike is being increased due to an increase in the input cost of production of milk for our 36 million milk producers. Our member unions have also increased the prices of farmers in the same proportion compared to the previous year,” the release has said.
After the hike, the 500 ml bag of Amul Gold Milk will be available for Rs 34, while the same brand’s one liter bag will cost Rs 67 in Gujarat from Thursday.
In Gujarat, now the 500 ml bag of ‘Shakti’ version is priced at 31, while 500 ml cow’s milk will be available for 29 rupees.
The price of a liter bag of Buffalo Milk Pouch will be priced at Rs 73, while a liter ‘Taza’ bag from May 1 will be sold for Rs 55.
