Android 16, next Big Operating System (OS) update, will be released for Samsung Galaxy devices “This Summer”, a company spokesperson confirmed during the Android Show: I/O edition occasion. For Google’s its annual I/O 2025 developer conference, the preface hosted a series of Android-related announcements, including a temporary release timeline for Android 16. The OS will hit the next month in a stable position, after which it will be released not only for the pixels, but also for the Galaxy devices.

At the time, Sameer Samat, president of Android Ecosystem in Google, revealed that with Android 16, other Android OS updates, this year is on track for initial release, the most likely launch period in June.
