Angry failed marriage system, man kills Karnataka matchmaker


Mangaluru:

A 50 -year -old marriage broker was killed, and his two sons were seriously injured in a late night attack in Valachil under the border of Mangaluru Rural Police on Thursday. The accused, a relative of the victim, has been arrested.

According to the police, the victim, known as Suleman (50), a resident of Vamjur, arranged for the marriage of accused Mustafa (30) with a woman named Shaheenj eight months ago. However, the marriage became sour, and Shaheenz returned to his parents’ home two months ago, raised tension between Mustafa and Suleman.

According to the police, Mustafa allegedly made an derogatory call to Suleman on Wednesday night. In response, Suleman, with his sons Riyab and Siab, went to Mustafa’s house in Valachil to resolve the matter. While the sons waited outside, Suleman spoke briefly before returning to Mustafa, showing that the discussion had failed.

When they were ready to leave, Mustafa suddenly came out, threatening, and stabbed Suleman in the neck, causing him to hit the spot. Police said that then both sons were attacked, stabbed Siyab in the chest and Riab in the cell before running away.

Local people took the injured to a nearby hospital around 11:00 pm, where Suleman was declared dead on arrival. His sons are undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

Mangaluru Rural Police registered a case under several sections of the Indian Judge Code (BNS), 2023, including guilty murder, attempt to murder and attack. Mustafa was later arrested, and further investigation is going on.
