Apple test a 200-megapixel rear camera sensor for future iPhone model: Report

Apple is testing a high-resolution camera sensor for one of its future iPhone models, according to a major tipster. However, the tipster does not suggest much from the fact that the cupertino-based tech veteran is testing the 200-megapixel camera. It is expected to be part of the high-end Pro model. We do not know what is the recurrence of the iPhone. So far we have seen in the iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 series leaks, they are unlikely to include a high resolution camera.

Apple allegedly tested 200-megapixel camera

Tipster Digital Chat Station recently claimed in Weibo Post Apple Testing 200-megapixel sensor for one of its future iPhone models. Tipster does not reveal any other details about the camera or that handset. The tipster has a history of offering an accurate Apple product leak, therefore, it is considering.

The iPhone 17 Pro model has been extended to the 48-megapixel telephoto shooter for the facility of 48-megapixel primary rear camera. It is unlikely that the 48-megapixel in the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max variants will jump into the 200-megapixel main camera for the Pro option in the iPhone 18 lineup. Therefore, even though the information about the company testing the big sensor is true, it can be a few years before seeing it.

In particular, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models may come with under-display face ID cameras, according to the recent leaks. This suggests that the front cameras will be hidden, with no visual cutouts on the display panel.

Current iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro handsets carry triple rear cameras, including a 48-megapixel main camera, 48-megapixel ultra-wide shooter and 12-megapixel telephoto camera. The phone has a 12-megapixel trude camera in the front for selfie and video calls.
