Apple updated for exploitation security weaknesses, carplay problem with iOS 18.4.1 update

Apple rolled out the iOS 18.4.1 update for iPhone on Wednesday. Update is not a major introduction and has no new features. Despite this, it is an important release that eligible iPhone users should update for the inclusion of a patch for major security weaknesses, which are said to have been exploited to attack the IOS users. Additionally, the iOS 18.4.1 update also fixes an issue related to the carplay.

IOS 18.4.1 Update for iPhone

Apple release notes IOS 18.4.1 and iPados 18.4.1 updates have been said that the cupertino-based tech veteran has fixed a vulnerability in a lower-level API choriudio on his mobile and tablet operating system. Given the identifier CVE-2025-31200, the defect was discovered by Apple and Google Danger Analysis Group. This will cause code execution when processing the audio stream in a maliciously designed media file. Apple addressed the issue of memory corruption with better border checks.

The second defect was discovered in a security facility; RPAC (remote participant audio control) framework. Although it allows communication between audio currents, vulnerability bypassed the pointer authentication with an attacker arbitrarily reading and writing. The vulnerability was discovered by Apple, the identifier was given on the CVE-2025-31201, and the weak code was removed and patched.

Although security flaws have been fixed, the company says that both issues can be exploited in a highly sophisticated attack against specific target persons on iOS.

In addition to the safety patch, Changelog states that the update also addresses a bug that “prevents wireless carplay connections in some vehicles”.

Thus, iOS 18.4.1 is advised to users with eligible iPhone models. To do this, launch the settings app and tap on the general> software update>> Install now. The update is available for several iPad models with the iPhone XS and later handsets.
